A to Z Joy: Freddie Mercury

Image result for freddie mercury

Freddie Mercury, legendary front man for the British rock band Queen, had a voice like no other. A few years ago, some researchers did an acoustical analysis and found, among other things, that Mercury's voice vibrated faster than those of a "typical Western singer." His vocal cords also modulated at more than one frequency, which made his vibrato "irregular and therefore unique."

Science aside, I've always loved Freddie's voice and have embarrassed myself more than once by trying to sing along with it. I was going to post a concert clip of him, but I ran across this gem, which makes me laugh. Every. Single. Time.

  1. Oh my gosh, I *love* that clip! Huge fan here as well. Have you seen Bohemian Rhapsody? I didn't for ages cause I was really worried it would be too sad, but I eventually did and have seen it a bunch now, lol.
